Responsibilities:

• Direct day-to-day accounting activities across payables, receivables, cash activity, payroll reconciliation, and maintenance of the general ledger.
• Partner with the Controller to complete monthly and annual close processes, including timely reconciliation of bank accounts, investments, and balance sheet activity.
• Maintain accounting for restricted, temporarily restricted, and unrestricted funds, and provide regular updates to program and budget leaders on available gift resources.
• Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analysis for senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
• Support completion of Form 990 and other required tax or regulatory filings while ensuring adherence to nonprofit accounting requirements and internal policies.
• Oversee tuition and student billing operations, including fees, auxiliary programs, financial aid adjustments, payment plans, collections, and monthly sub-ledger reconciliation.
• Manage the accounts payable function and improve vendor payment processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate on annual budget development, long-range financial planning, fixed asset accounting, depreciation tracking, and capital project reporting.
• Guide the implementation of financial reporting tools, including software used for endowment and restricted gift tracking and reporting integration.
• Supervise accounting team members, deliver ongoing coaching and performance feedback, and complete formal evaluations to support continued growth. Requirements
• Active CPA license is required.
• At least 5 years of accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, financial reporting, and financial statement audit support.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund and net asset accounting.
• Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll reconciliation, and general ledger activity.
• Ability to prepare clear financial analysis for executives, trustees, and department leaders.
• Strong communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with school leadership, staff, and families.
