Job Description

Finance & Accounting Director Brooklyn Center, MN | $150,000–$180,000 Base + 10–15% Bonus Looking for an opportunity to function as the top finance leader for a growing manufacturing business and directly influence company performance? We are partnering with a privately held manufacturing organization seeking a Finance & Accounting Director to lead the U.S. finance function and serve as the primary financial business partner to the U.S. General Manager. This role functions much like a "mini CFO" for U.S. operations. The successful candidate will help drive business performance through strong operational finance, cost accounting, inventory management, cash flow discipline, and strategic decision support. This is a highly visible player-coach leadership role requiring someone who is equally comfortable operating in the details and at the leadership table. The company has successfully completed a significant operational transformation and is continuing to invest in growth, process improvements, and future expansion initiatives, including expansion into Mexico. What You'll Do
  • Lead all accounting and finance activities for the U.S. business
  • Serve as the primary financial advisor and business partner to the U.S. General Manager
  • Oversee monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Drive improvements in cash flow, working capital management, inventory performance, and overall financial discipline
  • Manage cost accounting, inventory analysis, and operational finance activities
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools that improve business visibility and decision-making
  • Partner closely with operations leadership to improve profitability, efficiency, and business performance
  • Support capital planning, pricing decisions, and strategic growth initiatives
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team
  • Support future growth initiatives, including expansion into Mexico and related reporting requirements What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Experience serving as a Director of Finance, Finance & Accounting Director, Controller, CFO, Division CFO, Business Unit Finance Leader, or senior finance business partner within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong cost accounting, inventory management, and operational finance expertise
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with operations and executive leadership teams
  • Experience improving cash flow, working capital, inventory performance, and financial processes
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate strategically while remaining actively involved in day-to-day finance and accounting activities
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence business decisions through financial insight and operational partnership Ideal Background
  • Manufacturing Controller, Director of Finance, CFO, or senior finance leader within a small-to-mid-sized manufacturing business
  • Experience balancing strategic finance leadership with hands-on ownership of accounting and finance operations
  • Early-career experience within larger organizations combined with broader leadership responsibilities in smaller environments is highly attractive Preferred Qualifications
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or product-based industry experience
  • SAP experience
  • CPA or public accounting foundation
  • Experience supporting inventory-intensive operations
