VOA Oklahoma is currently seeking a Director of Accounting to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma! Volunteers of America is one of the nation's largest comprehensive human services organizations with 16,000 mission-driven professionals, dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. What You Will Do The Director of Accounting is responsible for collaboratively directing the accounting department functions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and other state and federal regulatory agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Setting strategic direction for the Accounting Department. Preparing budgets, timely financial statements, journal entries, and cash flow reports. Ensuring timely and accurate month-end close. Extensive experience with Medicaid and Federal grant billing; electronic health record systems; and fund accounting. Oversee/perform a reconciliation of the trial balance and all financial statements monthly. Expertise in accounting, financial planning and control, purchasing, contracting, budgeting, general administration, and management. Ensure accurate and timely revenue maximization and control, accurate and timely billing, budgeting, expense management, and risk management. Plan, organize, and coordinate monthly and year-round processes with internal staff, external auditors, and program auditors. Experience in accounting for affordable housing projects.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in accounting with at least 3 - 5 years of experience as a Director of Accounting or Controller with continuously progressive experience and leadership. Experience with setting up and integrating new accounting software. Adept in accounting software use and management. Expert user of MS Excel. Conditions of Employment Must meet employment eligibility requirements in accordance with federal law. Must have and maintain a working telephone direct contact number. Have reliable transportation. Maintain an acceptable driving record, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation criminal history checks, and Community Service Registry Record checks.
