With construction complete and assets now fully operational, the business is focused on stabilizing cash flow, strengthening reporting, and professionalizing its finance infrastructure. Job Description An entrepreneurial residential real estate platform is seeking a Director of Accounting to take full ownership of its finance engine during a pivotal operating phase. This is a high‑impact role for a hands‑on accounting leader who can bring clarity to cash flow, lender reporting, and executive decision‑making within a lean, autonomous environment.

As Director of Accounting, you will report directly to senior leadership and act as the primary owner of the accounting function across a multi‑entity real estate portfolio. You will be responsible for both operational execution and elevating the quality of financial insight provided to the business.

Key responsibilities include:

Owning the monthly close across multiple legal entities, including rental operations and home sale transactions Producing clear, actionable management reporting for the CEO and investors, with a strong emphasis on cash flow visibility Managing lender and investor reporting, including compliance packages and ad‑hoc data requests Overseeing property management accounting outputs and ensuring accuracy across rent, churn, and operating metrics Leading and developing a small internal accounting team while improving processes and controls Driving systems improvement and optimization, including property management and general ledger platforms Acting as the day‑to‑day finance partner to leadership, proactively identifying risks, issues, and opportunities MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. The Successful Applicant For the Director of Accounting, we are seeking: 6+ years of proven experience in real estate accounting, ideally within build‑to‑rent, single‑family rental, or residential portfolios Strong property management accounting expertise, including rent rolls, operating statements, and lender reporting Demonstrated ability to own cash flow reporting and communicate financial performance clearly to executives Experience working in lean or entrepreneurial environments with high autonomy and limited infrastructure Hands‑on background with modern accounting and property management systems (for example AppFolio, Yardi, or similar) A proactive, inquisitive mindset - someone who cares deeply about getting the numbers right and making them useful Comfort operating without a traditional full‑time Chief Financial Officer and serving as the senior accounting voice What's on Offer Competitive salary range from $110,000 to $140,000 USD annually.
