Job Description
Black Diamond Capital Advisory is hiring a Director of Tax & Accounting for our Fayetteville office. This role is the firm's senior tax authority, responsible for final return review, client tax planning and strategy, and resolving technical questions for our accounting and tax staff. CPA strongly preferred. Role The Director of Tax & Accounting serves as the firm's highest technical resource in tax and accounting expertise. This individual brings the depth of knowledge required to review a return with full command and render a definitive judgment on its accuracy, advise business and complex clients on tax planning and strategy, and function as the authoritative resource to which our accountants and tax preparers escalate their most difficult questions. Responsiblities Review tax returns as the final technical reviewer, calling each one correct or incorrect with confidence Advise business owners and complex clients on tax planning and strategy Serve as the final in-house authority on tax matters, resolving questions raised by accountants and tax preparers Establish and enforce the standards, policies, and quality controls that govern how tax and accounting work is prepared and reviewed Provide senior-level technical support, research, and consulting on difficult or high-stakes matters Oversee the tax and accounting work that supports financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and regulatory requirements Mentor and develop tax and accounting staff, raising the technical capability of the team Work directly with firm leadership on strategic and financial decision-making. Requirements Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license strongly preferred The knowledge and experience to expertly review a tax return and determine whether it is correct or incorrect with total confidence The judgment and command of tax to advise business and complex clients on planning and strategy The standing and expertise to serve as the final in-house authority and resolve questions for other preparers Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Significant experience across tax, GAAP, financial statement preparation, general ledger and corporate accounting, reconciliation, financial auditing, and QuickBooks Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing staff and owning a function or department Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the judgment to advise clients and leadership The ability to set direction independently while building a collaborative team Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and business goals 401(k) eligibility after 90 days Additional Details This is a hybrid role structured as W2 plus 1099.
