05/19/2026 This position is designated as Hybrid For more information, visit the link below: https://www.tn.gov/finance/careers-at-f-a.html Who we are and what we do: The Department of Transportation Centralized Accounting group (TDOT-CA) operates within the Division of Accounts under the Department of Finance and Administration. TDOT-CA manages multiple aspects of accounting for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Our responsibilities include contract and accounts payable, employee expense claims, asset accounting, account receivable and billing, and general ledger management. How you make a difference in this role: We are seeking a candidate of high integrity and strong ethical standards to serve as Fiscal Director 1. In this leadership role, you will oversee key accounting functions for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, working closely with TDOT Finance to ensure accurate reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with federal and state requirements. This position is based in Nashville, TN, and follows a hybrid work schedule.Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide strategic leadership and daily oversight to the Accounts Payable and Asset Accounting teams, ensuring timely and accurate fiscal performance. 2. Supervise, mentor, and train staff to build a skilled, collaborative, and service-oriented team. 3. Manage annual asset inventory processes, including additions, retirements, and property control documentation, and support asset damage claims and recovery efforts to protect the agencys financial interests. 4. Strengthen enterprise risk management (ERM) practices and maintain effective internal controls across assigned fiscal areas. 5. Develop, refine, and document fiscal procedures, including standard operating procedures for Accounts Payable and Asset Accounting. 6. Support audit readiness and ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and agency policies.Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting and experience equivalent to five or more years of full-time professional fiscal services and/or auditing work including, at least, one year of experience in the supervision of fiscal and/or auditing staff.
