Job Description

About the Role Harvest Church is a gospel-centered, disciple-making church located in Germantown, Tennessee, serving the greater Memphis area. Everything we do flows from the belief that the Gospel is not just the starting point of the Christian life, but the foundation and focus of it. We seek to be a people who live from our identity in Christ—loving, serving, and ministering from approval, not for approval. As we continue to grow and look toward future expansion, we're looking for a Director of Accounting & Finance to help lead and strengthen our financial operations. This role very hands-on, overseeing all day-to-day accounting while also helping us think ahead as we plan for the future. You'll work closely with our Executive Pastor and staff team to ensure our finances are accurate, transparent, and aligned with our mission. What You'll Do Financial Oversight
  • oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting. Ensure accurate and timely financial statements for leadership and Elders. Maintain strong internal controls and financial processes. Budgeting and Planning
  • Lead the annual budgeting process with ministry leaders. Provide monthly budget-to-actual reporting and clear explanations. Support forecasting and long-term financial planning. Audit and Compliance
  • Manage the annual audit or financial review. Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP). Maintain organized and reliable financial records. Systems and Processes
  • Oversee and optimize our accounting system (Sage Intacct). Improve financial reporting and visibility across departments. Ensure systems can scale as the church grows. Team Leadership
  • Supervise and support our finance director (AP/AR). Help build a healthy, efficient, and service-minded finance team. Support Future Growth
  • Help prepare the church financially for future expansion. Assist with financial modeling for potential projects or initiatives. Support leadership in making wise, informed decisions. Capital Campaign and Giving Oversight
  • Oversee financial tracking and reporting for capital campaigns, including pledge management and designated funds.
Ensure accurate recording and reporting of contributions, including restricted and multi-year pledges. Partner with leadership to provide clear, transparent reporting on campaign progress and fund usage. Ensure systems and processes support accurate donor tracking and compliance. Payroll Processing
  • Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance, including coordination with benefits and applicable clergy-related considerations.
What We're Looking For Strong alignment with our mission, values and church community. 4+ years of accounting or finance experience. Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets. Solid understanding of nonprofit accounting (or willingness to learn quickly). Experience with audits and financial reporting. CPA or similar credential preferred but not required. Experience with Sage Intacct or similar system preferred. Experience supporting capital campaigns, pledge tracking, or designated fund accounting in nonprofit or church setting preferred.
