Job Description:
Director of Development Accounting | Real Estate | Hybrid | $150,000 to $190,000 + Bonus We're partnering with a growing real estate organization seeking a Director of Development Accounting to lead the accounting and financial oversight of its development portfolio. This is a great opportunity for an experienced real estate accounting professional who enjoys being close to the business, partnering with development teams, and overseeing projects from initial investment through construction and stabilization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead development accounting across a portfolio of active real estate projects Oversee project budgets, forecasts, draws, funding activity, and development costs Manage monthly and quarterly close, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting Partner closely with Development, Asset Management, Finance, and executive leadership Monitor project performance, commitments, contracts, and budget-to-actual results Oversee construction draws and lender/investor reporting requirements Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for development costs, capitalization, and project activity Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, and stronger controls as the portfolio grows Lead, mentor, and develop members of the development accounting team
Ideal Background:
CPA Required Strong development and/or construction accounting experience within real estate Experience overseeing multiple projects and complex development budgets Solid understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles Strong cross-functional communication and ability to partner with development professionals and senior leadership Prior team leadership experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
