Philadelphia Campus ‌ Under the general supervision of the PCOM Chief Student Services Officer, this position plays a pivotal role in the efficient and effective administration of financial aid programs at the college. Responsibilities include assisting in the management of federal, state, institutional, and private aid programs for both current and prospective students. Additionally, the incumbent will spearhead initiatives to optimize the delivery of financial aid to PCOM students, while overseeing the work assignments of two Assistant Directors of Financial Aid to ensure the seamless provision of student financial services and exceptional customer service. Additionally, this role entails fostering opportunities for all staff to grow professionally and providing exemplary financial aid and loan counseling services, coupled with superior customer support, to meet the diverse needs of PCOM students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful incumbent will perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodations: Counseling Duties Provides financial aid counseling for prospective and enrolled students on all aspects of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid. General counseling duties include but not limited to the processing of budget appeals, request for loan advances, the calculation for Return of Title IV funds, Graduate PLUS processing, verification, resolution of C, Comment codes, the awarding of outside scholarships, and exit counseling. Provides loan and financial literacy counseling to help students make informed borrowing decisions. Provides in depth exit counseling to inform students as to their various loan repayment options. Quickly responds to student questions and concerns in an accurate and professional manner. Identifies potential problems and issues and proactively communicates resolution to students. Stays current with financial aid regulations and with changes in PCOM aid policy and procedures. Program Duties and Responsibilities Oversees the awarding and processing of our federal direct loan program that awards over $160 million dollars in funding each academic school year. Oversees the awarding and processing of our federal work study program that awards over $1.5 million dollars in funding each academic school year. Speaks at interview, orientation, and open house events for new students Reviews Argos and Banner reports on a frequent basis to insure quality control of financial aid processing. Assists the Chief Student Services Officer with the overall administration of federal, state, and institutional, and private aid programs. Supervises two Assistant Directors of Financial and work study students. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education Bachelors degree (required); Masters degree (preferred) Skills and Experience Five or more years of financial aid experience, plus two years in an administrative/supervisory capacity Regular study of professional journals and publications, participation in electronic e-mail discussion groups is required to maintain the knowledge required for this position Proficiency with electronic student information systems; Banner preferred Strong knowledge of Federal financial aid regulations required Strong record of exemplary customer service and dedication to counseling students Excellent communication and writing skills required
Starting Salary:
$70,000.00 annually ‌ The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
