10 Position Summary The UNM-Valencia Financial Aid Office is seeking a student-centered
Financial Aid Officer to support students and families. The successful candidate will guide students and families on financial
aid options, eligibility, applications, verification, scholarships, work-study,
and satisfactory academic progress. This position evaluates, approves, and
awards aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations;
reviews files and documentation; monitors academic progress; and adjudicates
appeals. The Financial Aid Officer also maintains accurate records, supports
reports and compliance tasks, assists with assigned programs, and collaborates
with EMSS and campus partners to promote access, persistence, and completion. Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the
University of Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the
University of Mexico which functions as a community college in the region
and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on
teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs,
technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High
School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and
staff serve a student body of approximately 1,900 students per semester. UNM

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Comprehensive
knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs,
regulations, and policies
Strong
technical skills and experience with a variety of software solutions
including Microsoft Office and the Banner system or similar software
Demonstrated commitment
to serving diverse, rural, first-generation, and underserved students and
