Job Description

Serves as Financial Aid Counselor and counsels applicants on all aspects of financial aid and processes federal applications. Responsible for counseling students about the financial aid process, aid sources, eligibility requirements and satisfactory academic progress. Responsible for the Federal Work Study program, file processing, verification, and VA benefit certification. Counsels students on all aspects of financial aid. Assists students with completion of FAFSA and other required documents. Completes file processing and verification for assigned student population. Acts as second VA certifying official for VA benefits Chapters 30, 31, 35, 1606, Free Tuition, National Guard College Assistance Program (CAP), and vocational rehabilitation program. Counsels military veterans regarding their educational benefits. Administers the Federal Work-study program. Responsible for processing incoming and outgoing mail and provides support for administrative reports and processes. Serves as back up for document imaging (scanning and indexing). Assists with handling calls to the general FA questions line of the financial aid phone tree. Bachelor's degree and financial aid experience. Experience working in student services, counseling, Financial Aid, Veterans Affairs or related field. Typical work environment is indoor office work, with official outdoor work for special events, and special college events. Occasional overnight travel may be required to attend conferences, meetings, and training events. Employees must maintain reliable transportation for work-related travel. Occasional night and/or weekend hours may be required for scheduled events, such as during registration.
