Job Description

San Francisco, California Job Description The Senior Financial Systems Lead serves as a resource for resolving complex financial system issues, troubleshooting user problems, and ensuring system stability. This role identifies root causes, delivers effective solutions, and provides guidance to end users while partnering with Finance, IT, and vendors to maintain reliable and efficient financial system operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the Finance team, you will support the implementation, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of the firm's global financial system, Aderant. This includes functions related to personnel, client matters, general ledger, billing, collections, accounts payable, and cost recovery. The Senior Financial Systems Lead will monitor, maintain, and optimize financial system processes within Aderant and associated applications. Collaborates closely with Finance and Information Technology teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions. Supports and assists with the firm's key third party financial applications, including but not limited to Iridium, Chrome River, Intapp, Workday, and Elegrity. Ensures proper documentation, development, and maintenance of standard reports and queries for end user consumption. Serves as a liaison between the Finance and IT departments and plays a leadership role in projects that expand financial system functionality. Partners with the IT team to design, plan, and execute system upgrades and automated integrations. Communicates technical issues related to financial systems to stakeholders and ensures timely resolution. Coordinates updates to department and firm wide reporting that result from database or reporting methodology changes. Manages external vendor relationships for projects involving the integration of third party solutions into the financial system. Works with IT to develop appropriate training programs for the Finance team, attorneys, and legal secretaries. Collaborates with User Support to ensure end users understand best practices for leveraging financial systems and to provide ongoing system support and maintenance. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent professional experience. 5-7 years of experience with financial systems (Aderant or Elite strongly preferred) and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with relational databases, data validation, and report writing; SQL (SSRS).
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrates a forward‑thinking approach by proactively identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies—particularly AI—to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and improve overall operational efficiency across the firm. Strong understanding of financial systems architecture. Experience supporting financial business functions and implementing integrations between disparate systems. Ability to identify and leverage technology opportunities to meet business needs. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment; capable of managing multiple projects and leading teams when necessary. Strong organizational, documentation, and time‑management skills. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. A proactive self‑starter with strong professional maturity and confidence.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act. California, New York and Washington DC Pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience, is $120,000 - $140,000.
