Interim Controller Our client, a well?established organization, is seeking an Interim Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives during a transition period. This position is primarily onsite in Menlo Park, CA, and the engagement is expected to last 3 months.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day?to?day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and cash management Manage month?end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules Prepare and present financial reporting packages, including budget?to?actual analysis and variance reporting Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies across all financial activities Serve as primary liaison for audit and tax activities, coordinating with external stakeholders Oversee indirect tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and capital project accounting, including capitalization decisions and tracking of ongoing projects Support inventory?related accounting, accruals, and variance analysis Perform financial modeling, forecasting, and ad hoc business analysis to support leadership decision?making Analyze operational and financial data to generate actionable insights Lead, mentor, and support accounting team members, ensuring development and strong execution Partner cross?functionally with operational leaders to support financial transparency and responsiveness Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and control enhancements Support financial planning, reporting improvements, and broader accounting initiatives Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership responsibilities Experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager role preferred Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience Experience with capital projects, fixed assets, and operational accounting environments preferred Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands?on Strong communication, leadership, and problem?solving skills Compensation:
