Job Description
Financial Controls Analyst Position Summary The Financial Controls Analyst is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal financial controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across financial operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining data integrity, supporting audits, and improving financial processes. The analyst will work closely with accounting, finance, and operational teams, leveraging Unanet as the primary financial system. Key Responsibilities Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of internal financial controls and policies Monitor financial transactions and processes to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations Perform regular control testing and identify gaps or areas for improvement Support internal and external audit activities, including preparation of documentation and responses Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and risks Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial workflows and system utilization Maintain and enhance reporting capabilities within Unanet Ensure data accuracy and consistency across financial systems Assist in the implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives Provide training and guidance to users on financial controls and system best practices Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 2-5 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or internal controls Experience with Unanet or similar ERP/project-based financial systems preferred Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX compliance is a plus) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Effective communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Skills Experience in government contracting or project-based accounting environments Familiarity with audit processes and compliance requirements Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process optimization
