Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This classification will plan, organize, develop, review, and revise accounting forms, fiscal statements, controls, information systems, and procedures to promote efficient financial records.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Functions:
Manage the preparation, completion, and issuance of the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Analyze departmental budgets, expenditures, and revenues to ensure alignment with approved appropriationsAssist in the development and coordination of the Citys annual operating and capital budgetsSupport financial forecasting and long-term planning initiativesEvaluate financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savingsGenerate monthly, annual, and ad hoc reports.

Analysis reports as needed for internal reporting and as required by state and federal agencies. Update and maintain the City's fixed assets.

Prepare year-end reports for the auditors. Review accounts for budgeted and actual comparisons.

Prepare entries as needed based on accounts review. Conduct standard internal audits of various revenues and expenses, funds, and departmental accounting records, performs special audits as assigned. Work collaboratively with both internal and external auditors.

Provide requested data, reports, and other necessary items to ensure the completion and accuracy of annual audits. Participate in year-end closing processes and procedures in preparation of the annual audit. Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting standards and principles.

Ensure maintenance of proper audit trails, verification, and reconciliation actions for all processed work.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND
TRAININGBachelors degree in finance, accounting, business, public administration, or closely related field. Five (5) years of experience in budgeting, finance, auditing, or closely related field.

Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysisAbility to interpret complex financial data and present findings clearlyExperience in municipal or governmental financeExperience with ERP systems (e.g., Tyler Munis)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS
REQUIREDPhysical Requirements:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
