Summary Summary:
A hospital financial analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing insights to improve the financial performance of healthcare facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting :
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support decision-making processes within the hospital.
Data Analysis :
Conduct detailed analyses of spending, revenue, and financial trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance profitability.
Budget Development :
Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial strategies.
Cost Management :
Evaluate operational costs and recommend strategies to streamline expenditures and improve the hospital's financial health.
Collaboration :
Work closely with various departments to gather financial data, provide insights, and support financial planning initiatives.
Compliance :
Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards, including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and healthcare financial reporting standards.
Clerical/General :
Assist in department scanning, filing, organizing data, and document processing. Other accounting duties and projects may be assigned.
Qualifications :

Education/Experience/Skills :
A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required. Previous experience in financial analysis, particularly within the healthcare sector, is preferred. Familiarity with healthcare financial systems and software is advantageous. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial modeling, and expertise in spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) are essential. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are also important.
Computer Skills :
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Accounting software, Payroll software, Internet, and Order Processing software.
Certificates and Licenses :
None required; however, advanced degrees or certifications may enhance job prospects.
