Senior Analyst -
Actuarial Financial Reporting Locations:
Boston, MA or Des Moines, IA Overview A leading life and retirement insurance platform is seeking a Senior Analyst to support actuarial valuation and financial reporting for reinsured fixed annuity portfolios. This role will work closely with actuarial valuation and modeling teams and play an important part in statutory, GAAP, and tax reporting, as well as analysis, controls, and business review activities. The position offers exposure to complex reinsurance structures and collaboration across valuation, modeling, IT, data, and audit teams. The Role The Senior Analyst will be responsible for supporting the calculation, analysis, and reporting of actuarial balances related to fixed annuity business. This individual will contribute to both recurring reporting cycles and longer‑term transformation and process improvement initiatives, while developing a strong understanding of financial results and drivers. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and support the calculation of US Statutory, Tax, and US GAAP reserves and related actuarial balances
  • Analyze valuation results, including sensitivities and movements, and assess impacts to earnings under statutory and GAAP frameworks
  • Maintain, enhance, and document internal controls, including Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Perform annual impact testing related to assumption updates and methodology changes
  • Partner with model development teams on required model enhancements and validation efforts
  • Collaborate with IT and data teams on ongoing systems and data transformation initiatives
  • Support Asset Adequacy Analysis and related regulatory requirements
  • Respond to audit and regulatory inquiries and provide supporting analysis and documentation Qualifications
  • 2+ years of actuarial experience within life insurance, annuities, or retirement products
  • Working knowledge of annuity or life insurance products, with exposure to US Statutory and GAAP valuation preferred
  • Experience with actuarial modeling software is a plus
  • Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ownership and accountability for deliverables and results
  • Ability to contribute ideas and solutions in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment
  • Prior experience with forecasting, financial analysis, or reinsurance structures is a plus
