Job Description
Overview Northern Maine Dental is seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Insurance & Financial Coordinator to join our team. This position supports patients in understanding their insurance benefits while helping maintain accurate and efficient billing and payment processes. The Insurance & Financial Coordinator will work closely with patients, insurance companies, and the clinical team to support the financial aspects of patient care. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize tasks while learning and utilizing various integrated technology platforms. As our practice continues to grow, this position offers the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities and develop into a leadership role. For the right candidate, there is potential for growth into office management and human resources as experience is gained and involvement in the overall operations of the practice increases. Responsibilities Submit and follow up on dental insurance claims. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Assist patients with questions regarding insurance coverage, treatment estimates, and payment options. Collect patient payments and help manage outstanding balances. Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim issues and support accurate reimbursement. Maintain accurate patient financial information and insurance records. Work closely with the dental team to ensure treatment plans and billing information are accurate. Provide a welcoming, professional experience for patients through in-person communication, phone calls, and electronic messaging. Support daily administrative and financial tasks to help keep the office running efficiently. Assist with maintaining office workflows and identifying opportunities to improve administrative processes Assist with end-of-day office procedures, including preparing daily deposits, ensuring financial tasks are completed, and securing the office at closing. Qualifications Previous experience in a medical or dental insurance setting is preferred, but not required. Candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new systems are encouraged to apply. Our office has well-defined processes and will provide thorough training to help the right candidate become confident in all aspects of the role. Strong communication and customer service skills. Comfortable using computers and learning dental practice software. Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks. Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with the rest of the team. Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and processes. As responsibilities expand, including potential leadership, office management, or human resource responsibilities, there is opportunity for compensation growth. Schedule & Work Environment This position is based in our office and requires in-person collaboration with our team and patients. Remote work is not available for this role. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM-1:00 PM.
