Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Financial Application Analyst is responsible for the build, maintenance, and optimization of software systems within the revenue cycle. This role serves as the primary technical liaison between Patient Access, Billing, and IT, ensuring that financial data flows accurately from point-of-entry to final claim adjudication. You will work closely with the PFS Director to translate operational needs into system configurations. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
System Maintenance:
Lead the technical configuration and dictionary updates for Meditech Expanse, ensuring all financial modules are aligned with current billing regulations.
Claim Management:
Manage electronic claim formats and remittance files within Quadax and Experian. Troubleshoot 837 (claims) and 835 (remittance) transmission errors.
Dictionary & Master File Updates:
Maintain and update accident codes, claim codes, and Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) questionnaires to ensure clean claim submission.
Reporting:
Design and schedule automated financial reports to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), denials, and aging accounts.
Advanced Data Mapping:
Experience with HL7 or flat-file mapping between disparate clinical systems (PCC/CareUnity) and clearinghouses (Quadax).
Third-Party Oversight:
Ability to audit the work of external billing partners (Coronis Health) to ensure adherence to Memorial Healthcare's internal dictionary standards.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Act as the technical expert for CarePayment and other patient financing integrations. Ensure Patient Access teams have the correct insurance scripts and system access to facilitate front-end collections. managing the Home Health Hospice EMR - NetSmart Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree (Desired): Typically, in Health Information Management (HIM), Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or Finance/Accounting. Associate's Degree (Acceptable with Experience): An Associate's degree may be sufficient if accompanied by 5+ years of direct experience in Meditech Expanse dictionary management or Quadax system administration.
EXPERIENCE
Software Proficiency:
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Meditech Expanse, Quadax, and Experian Health.
LTC Expertise:
Direct experience with PointClickCare billing workflows and long-term care reimbursement models.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of HIPAA transaction sets, claim scrubbers, and electronic remittance advice (ERA) posting.
Communication:
Proven ability to work alongside executive leadership (PFS Director) to implement strategic billing changes.
Detail Oriented:
Exceptional skill in updating system dictionaries and mapping complex insurance rules to prevent front-end denials.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Between two- and four-years' relevant accounting or finance experience Financial literacy Experience with financial software, such as Quadax, Strata, Experian Fluency in using spreadsheet software and database applications Strong written and verbal communication skills Effective time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
