Associate Analyst, Finance

Actively supports initiatives across all areas of the finance function and drives execution of key deliverables and company objectives. Assists in the preparation of accounting and financial data, as well as reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledgers, in support of financial reporting and operational objectives. Able to independently research and document accounting information, identify issues and see them through to resolution. Works closely with all areas within Corporate Finance and with other company functions as assignments require. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Supports finance initiatives and sees objectives through to completion Records journal entries, analyzes data, and runs queries within the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Expense Management system, administration systems, and related databases Prepares account reconciliations and certifies to the accuracy and completeness of financial information Works with various finance functions including expense management, accounts payable, financial reporting, operations accounting, reinsurance and internal audit to understand and improve processes Assists in preparation of quarterly and annual GAAP and STAT financial reporting and analysis Supports the preparation of financial statements and disclosures, ensuring supporting documentation is in line with company policies Assesses departmental processes and makes recommendations for improvements and efficiency Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field 0-3 years of related accounting or finance experience Experience in or familiarity with the insurance industry preferred Proven ability to work independently and learn quickly Excellent judgment, tact and interpersonal skills Strong time management skills and multi-tasking abilities Analytical skills with ability to synthesize and summarize data Advanced excel skills; Access, Word, Powerpoint, Visio skills a plus PeopleSoft experience a plus Compensation Nassau maintains a holistic compensation philosophy focused on competitive base salaries, performance driven incentives, and unique professional development opportunities.
