Job Description

Youth & Family Services, Inc. is hiring a Finance Coordinator to serve as a member of our Finance Team. The Finance Coordinator ensures effective financial planning, management, and reporting. This position will work with program staff and agency leadership to facilitate financial management and stewardship of agency resources. This position will reconcile general ledgers, bank accounts, credit card statements, balance sheets, process Accounts receivables, and provide backup for Accounts Payables and Payroll administration. Applicant must have extensive experience in full-charge and cost accounting. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, master's degree preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with agency policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 2. Reconcile general ledgers, bank accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheets. 3. Process accounts receivable (AR) and provide backup for accounts payable (AP) and payroll administration to ensure timely and accurate transactions and ensure continuity of operations. 4. Assist in preparation, monitoring, and reporting of annual budgets and grants budgets. 5. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation. 6. Coordinate and track grant funds, donations, and restricted funding, ensuring compliance with donor and grantor requirements. 7. Assist in preparation for annual audits and provide documentation as requested. 8. Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure accuracy and adherence to cost accounting principles, contracts, grants, and regulatory requirements, including budgeting limitations, and federal and state laws. 9. Collaborate with program managers to ensure proper allocation and tracking of expenses. 10. Maintain confidentiality and security of all financial and client information. 11. Analyze financial data to support management in budgeting, forecasting, and cost-reduction initiatives. 12. Maintain robust internal controls and accounting systems to ensure data accuracy and prevent fraud. 13. Classify expenditures and charges to appropriate funding sources, ensuring compliance with all funding requirements. 14. Conduct inventories and maintain comprehensive records of all agency property. 15. Remain proficient with current accounting software and relevant computer applications. 16. Stay informed of emerging issues and best practices in youth services and non-profit management. 17. Keep the Finance Director advised regarding fiscal policy, conditions and emerging issues. 18. Assist with staff training related to financial processes and documentation. 19. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Finance Director and Executive Director.
Experience & Skills Needed:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in full-charge and cost accounting is required. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices and techniques, including business and public administration; understanding managerial functions and office procedures; strong command of Business English and mathematics; excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement; Strong organizational skills and the ability to present information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, program staff, and external stakeholders. High proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excell skills required.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
