N/A POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst supports Moravian University's financial stewardship through accurate recording and analysis of investment activity, tracking of individual endowed funds, and financial support for auxiliary operations (including third-party property rentals and self-operated bookstore operations). This position is on-stie in Bethlehem, PA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Investment Accounting:
Record monthly/quarterly investment activity (income, fees, realized/unrealized gains/losses) from custodian and manager statements. Prepare reconciliations between the general ledger, custodian statements, and investment manager reports; investigate and resolve variances. Maintain unitization schedules and support endowment spending distribution calculations in accordance with spending policy. Track individual endowed funds, including restrictions, and donor intent; support reporting to Advancement and donors. Provide assistance to the Asst. VP of Finance in supporting the Investment and Finance committees. Auxiliary Operations Support:
Support P&L tracking, budgeting, and monthly variance analysis for auxiliary units (e.g., third-party property rentals, self-operated bookstore, and campus dining). Assist with rental contract administration (rate schedules, billing/invoicing, receivables tracking) and monitor occupancy/usage metrics. Support bookstore operations analytics (sales, margin, inventory turns, shrink, cash controls) and periodic inventory reconciliations. Coordinate with campus partners to improve auxiliary forecasting, pricing, and operational KPIs. Financial Planning & Analysis:
Assist with annual budget development and rolling forecasts; maintain budget files and version control. Prepare management reports, dashboards, and financial models to support decision-making. Perform monthly/quarterly close tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance explanations. Support internal controls, documentation, and audit requests (financial statement, single audit, and interim procedures as applicable). QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 2-4 years of relevant experience in accounting or FP&A; higher education or nonprofit experience is a plus. Foundational knowledge of endowment accounting concepts (spending policy, restrictions) preferred. Familiarity with debt concepts (amortization, interest accruals, covenants) preferred. Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling); experience with data visualization tools is a plus. Experience with ERPs or financial systems (e.g., Workday, Banner, Oracle) and with reconciliations. Experience in Smart View and OTBI reporting is not required but highly desirable. Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage competing deadlines and collaborate across departments. TO APPLY
