The Financial Aid Office supports the recruitment, retention, and student success efforts of the University's diverse undergraduate and graduate student population by helping students and their influencers seek, obtain, and make the best use of all financial resources. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid, the analyst certifies Federal Plus, Graduate Plus and Private loans to support students and their families. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills. They will pay close attention to detail and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will value teamwork, collaboration, and continual process improvement. Also, to obtain and maintain functional understanding of the Student Information System (Banner), ELM, COD and NSLDS.
Responsibilities include:
Maintain efficient ELM loan processing to ensure timely and accurate handling of all loan-related activities Work collaboratively with private lenders to facilitate loan coordination and communication Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and institutional guidelines related to loan processing Support loan repackaging efforts to align financial aid awards with updated information and requirements Manage dedicated loan email communications to provide timely responses and guidance to students and stakeholders Troubleshoot and resolve federal and private loan issues to ensure smooth processing and customer satisfaction Certify Federal Plus, Graduate Plus and Private Loans Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications One year as a Data Analyst 1 OR Three years of progressively responsible experience in the review, analysis, and control of computer processed data. Appropriate post high school education may be substituted for experience on a year for-year basis OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including
Outlook, Word, and Excel Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the practices and procedures of computer data control Knowledge of methods and techniques of data batching, computer input preparation, and computer output review Ability to read and interpret input forms, keypunch cards, and computer printouts Ability to maintain accurate log and control records Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Preferred Qualifications Experience working in higher education Experience using student information systems including Banner, COD, NSLDS and ELM Experience with Federal Direct Loan regulations and awarding as well as Private Loan awarding Special Instructions Salary and benefits are dictated by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) collective bargaining agreement.
