This full-time position combines responsibility for the synagogue's human resources functions with a significant role in day-to-day financial operations. The position is approximately evenly divided between Human Resources and Finance, with responsibilities varying throughout the year. We are looking for someone who enjoys both people-focused and detail-oriented work, takes ownership of recurring processes, and is interested in helping improve the systems behind them. Human Resources The HR & Finance Manager will oversee the organization's day-to-day HR functions, including: Manage biweekly payroll and related employee changes. Administer employee benefits, including health and dental insurance, retirement plans, and other benefit programs. Coordinate annual open enrollment and proactively research benefit options and opportunities to improve the organization's benefit offerings. Manage employee onboarding and offboarding and maintain accurate and confidential personnel records. Support recruitment and hiring, including job postings, interview coordination, candidate communication, and hiring documentation. Serve as a resource to employees and supervisors on payroll, benefits, policies, and routine HR matters. Maintain and improve HR procedures, documentation, and recurring processes. Coordinate with payroll, benefits, insurance, and other outside vendors and advisors. Finance As an integral member of the Finance team, the HR & Finance Manager will own a portfolio of recurring financial processes, including: Prepare, code, and record deposits from checks, PayPal, and other payment sources. Review and reconcile accounts receivable activity and investigate discrepancies. Maintain recurring financial schedules, reconciliations, and tracking tools in Excel. Manage financial activity for auxiliary and affiliated accounts, including deposits, reconciliations, schedules, and communication with appropriate staff and volunteers. Assist with credit-card and expense-management administration and coding follow-up. Assist with routine reconciliation of information between financial and administrative systems. Maintain supporting documentation and assist with monthly and year-end close and the annual audit. Help identify discrepancies, incomplete information, and process issues and work with Finance staff and other departments to resolve them. Take on additional recurring financial processes as appropriate based on organizational needs and experience. Qualifications The successful candidate will ideally have: Several years of relevant experience in human resources, payroll, benefits administration, finance operations, nonprofit administration, or a related field. Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage recurring processes and deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Comfort working with numbers, spreadsheets, and detailed records. Proficiency with Excel and the ability to learn new software and systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential employee and financial information. A collaborative working style and an interest in improving processes and systems. Experience with payroll or HR information systems, accounting software, or nonprofit administration is a plus.
Position Details Full-time Salary range:
$65,000-$75,000 , commensurate with experience Reports to:

The position is primarily in person, with flexibility for up to two remote workdays per week.

Plan:
You will be eligible to participate in the synagogue's 403(b) retirement plan. For all full-time employees, Temple Emanuel matches 25% of the first 6% of your contributions each payroll period.
Health Plan:
As a full-time employee, you are eligible to participate in the synagogue's health plan. Temple Emanuel covers 80% of the monthly premium, with the remaining 20% deducted from your paycheck.
Dental Plan:
You are eligible to participate in the synagogue's dental plan. Temple Emanuel covers 50% of the monthly premium, with the remaining 50% deducted from your paycheck.
Disability Insurance:
You will be eligible to participate in the synagogue's short and long-term disability plans after three months of employment. Temple Emanuel covers 100% of these premiums, and the value of the LTD is taxed annually.
Life Insurance:
After three months of employment, you will receive a $50,000 life insurance policy fully paid by the synagogue.
Vacation Time:
You will receive 10 vacation days per fiscal year, prorated based on your hire date. Our fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. Vacation days may be carried over up to a maximum of five days into the following fiscal year. Vacation requests are subject to approval by your supervisor.
Sick Time:
You will receive seven sick days per fiscal year, prorated based on your hire date. Unused sick days do not carry over to future years.
Holidays:
Temple Emanuel observes a combination of Federal and Jewish holidays, which are announced annually.
Flexible Spending Account:
You are entitled to participate in the synagogue's Flexible Spending Account.
Employment Requirements:
Before starting, you must complete both a CORI and SORI check and complete a Mandated Reporting Training course.
Employment Status:
Your employment is "At Will" and subject to the Temple Emanuel Employment Handbook, which may be amended from time to time. Your first 90 days will serve as a probationary period.

$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
