Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Financial Analyst to support a complex defense program by building a well-supported financial position in response to subcontract cost recovery and claim activity. This two-to-three-year Contract role will partner with cross-functional teams is primarily remote with occasional trips to their site in WA state, examining program events, contract obligations, cost records, and performance data in order to assess financial exposure and defend commercial interests. The ideal candidate can translate large volumes of technical, contractual, and financial information into clear conclusions backed by evidence.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct detailed financial reviews related to claims, backcharges, offsets, and other recovery actions raised by the prime contractor.
  • Examine asserted costs to determine whether they are allowable under contract terms, properly assigned, sufficiently documented, and reasonable in amount.
  • Rebuild the timeline of program performance, cost activity, and key events to clarify causation, accountability, and financial impact.
  • Evaluate subcontract language, scope documents, modifications, specifications, and correspondence to assess the basis of commercial positions and obligations.
  • Prepare analyses that distinguish subcontractor-related costs from impacts driven by prime decisions, government direction, design revisions, schedule shifts, supplier issues, or concurrent events.
  • Review supporting calculations and source documentation to identify duplicate, unsupported, inflated, premature, or otherwise unrecoverable charges.
  • Partner with Finance, Contracts, Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Legal to assemble a complete factual and financial record.
  • Develop clear, evidence-based summaries and recommendations that support leadership decision-making and defense strategies. Requirements
  • Strong background in financial analysis within complex program or contract-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial modeling, variance analysis, and ad hoc analytical work.
  • Ability to interpret contracts, statements of work, change documentation, and commercial terms tied to cost recovery matters.
  • Skilled in tracing financial outcomes to program events, schedule performance, and operational drivers.
  • Proficiency in data mining and working with large, detailed data sets to uncover trends and support conclusions.
  • Excellent critical thinking and documentation skills with the ability to present defensible, fact-based findings.
  • Comfortable collaborating across multiple business functions in a highly analytical, deadline-driven setting.

+ Experience with DCAA, DCMA or Prime or Sub-prime Federal contractors is required.

+ Knowledge of FAR is also required.
