Are you someone who enjoys working with data, pricing, billing systems, and problem-solving ? Trans-System, Inc. is looking for a Rate & Pricing Analyst to join our team and play a key role in ensuring our customer rates, fuel surcharges, mileage calculations, and billing information are accurate and working correctly. In this role, you will work closely with Billing, Credit, Operations, Sales, Accounting, and Customer Service to maintain pricing information within our transportation rating systems, identify and resolve rating issues, and improve processes that support accurate customer billing. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, comfortable working with systems and data, and enjoys figuring out why something isn't working and finding a solution. Transportation or freight experience is helpful, but we are also interested in candidates with strong analytical, billing, accounting, or systems experience who can learn the transportation side of the business. What You'll Do Create and maintain customer rate tables and verify rates are calculating correctly within our rating and billing systems. Create and maintain weekly fuel surcharge tables, including customer-specific requirements, and verify that fuel surcharges are calculating correctly. Create and maintain mileage vendor buckets based on customer requirements and analyze existing mileage data for accuracy and consistency. Review and maintain commodity codes as needed. Partner with Billing and Credit to research and resolve rating issues, billing discrepancies, and customer rate disputes. Audit rate tariffs, fuel tables, mileage information, and other pricing data to ensure accuracy and alignment with published customer rates and requirements. Investigate rating discrepancies and determine the root cause of errors within the rating system. Work closely with Billing, Operations, Sales, Accounting, Credit, and Customer Service to resolve rating and billing issues. Help develop solutions for dedicated fleet billing and other specialized customer requirements. Identify opportunities to improve and standardize rating processes and serve as a key resource for rating-related process improvements. Participate in special projects involving pricing, rating, billing systems, and process improvement. Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Highly detail-oriented and accurate when working with numbers and data. Analytical and able to identify discrepancies, investigate problems, and determine solutions. Comfortable working with computer systems, databases, spreadsheets, and other business software. Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy. A strong communicator who can work effectively with multiple departments. Comfortable learning complex processes and becoming a subject-matter expert. Proactive and interested in improving processes rather than simply maintaining them. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. Experience in transportation, freight, logistics, billing, accounts receivable, accounting, pricing, or data analysis preferred. Experience working with transportation management systems, rating software, or other business systems is a plus. Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills are a plus. Don't have transportation experience?
