Job Description To be responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight and execution of charge integrity functions, including charge capture, charge reconciliation, Charge Description Master (CDM) maintenance, and work queue management. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant charging practice across clinical departments to support optimal reimbursement and minimize revenue leakage. To support the development and enforcement of standardized CDM and revenue integrity processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, payer guidelines, and organizational policies. This includes maintaining CDM accuracy, supporting charge- related system workflows, and driving consistency across departments and service lines. To work collaboratively with clinical operations, coding, compliance, finance, and patient financial services, to identify and resolve charge capture gaps, monitor charge accuracy and reconciliation performance, and implement process improvements to enhance revenue cycle outcomes. To be accountable for monitoring key performance indicators such as charge lag, work queue volumes, charge accuracy, evaluating revenue variance trends, coordinating internal and external audit readiness, and implementing initiatives that enhance revenue cycle performance and financial outcomes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Partners with the Senior director of Revenue Integrity to develop and manage system-wide revenue integrity and CDM strategies that support compliant billing practices, standardized charge capture methodologies, and sustainable revenue cycle performance across assigned entities. 2. Oversees day- to- day operational management and direction for the revenue integrity & CDM teams, including charge reconciliation, charge lag reduction across all departments, monitoring and resolving charge-related work queues, edits, and exceptions to ensure timely and accurate billing. 3. Works in conjunction with all key stakeholders to prevent revenue leakage to maximize potential revenue for the assigned hospitals. Establishes clear roles, responsibilities, and productivity expectations aligned with organizational goals. 4. Ensures revenue integrity and CDM practices align with federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and organizational compliance standards through ongoing monitoring, audit coordination, and corrective action planning. 5. Oversees end -to -end CDM management, including CDM requests, file maintenance, annual and ad hoc reviews, and charge code processing across hospital and/or professional fee environments. Serves as a subject matter expert for Epic charge-related functionality (i.e., charge router, charge review WQs, procedure/ order linkage, etc. 6. Partners with IT, Finance, and other key stakeholders on the build, testing, and optimization of charge capture workflows. Leads charge-related initiatives tied to system upgrades, new service lines, and regulatory changes. 7. Coordinates with the Director to lead analysis of revenue integrity performance metrics, financial trends, and operational data to identify improvement opportunities and support informed decision-making. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration or related field with minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in revenue cycle operations within a healthcare environment, including direct experience in Revenue Integrity, charge capture, charge description master, and/or charge control functions. Relevant professional certifications, such as RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, COC, CCS, CHC, or other coding credentials.
