Troy - T01 Job Summary The Accounting Manager provides accounting and financial support within the Controller's Office. The position primarily supports two areas, Sponsored Program Accounting and Financial Reporting, by assisting with their accounting, review, and reporting work. The Accounting Manager also performs other accounting work within the Controller's Office, including financial analysis, compliance support, and providing guidance to university departments. Performs accounting and financial duties to include, but not limited to: Supports Sponsored Program Accounting by assisting with the monitoring of sponsored awards, reviewing financial activity, helping ensure compliance with applicable federal and state requirements, and assisting departments with grant-related accounting and reporting requirements. Assists with the preparation and review of financial statements, schedules, and other financial information required for internal and external reporting purposes. Prepares and reviews accounting records, financial statements, reports, and other financial information to ensure accuracy and compliance with university policies, laws, regulations, and accounting standards. Identifies accounting and financial issues and works with departments to make corrections as needed. Assists with budget development and monitoring. Reviews budget-to-actual activity and recommends adjustments when needed. Provides accounting and financial guidance to university departments and offices regarding accounting procedures, financial reporting, budgets, sponsored programs, and compliance. Assists the Controller's Office in working with university departments, divisions, agencies, and external organizations on accounting and financial matters. Assists with federal, state, and external audits by providing financial records, reconciliations, reports, and other requested information. Researches accounting standards, federal and state regulations, grant requirements, and university policies and provides guidance on compliance and proper accounting treatment. Performs special projects, financial analyses, reconciliations, and other accounting duties within the Controller's Office as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting Three years of related experience in accounting, preferably in a higher education setting Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree Certified Public Accountant Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility
