Job Description

Position Description Immediate opening for a Full-cycle Construction Accounting Manager for small, established General Contractor in Tempe, AZ (servicing the Phoenix valley). Full-time, in-office position. Role responsible for full-cycle construction accounting, including AP and AR, month/quarter/year-end closes, monthly allocation schedules and entries, and routine financial reporting. General office admin duties include HR and payroll processing; business insurance policy renewals, tracking & allocating; construction sales tax tracking and filing; subcontractor prequals, compliance, and billing; owner pay applications (AIA). Salary DOE. KEY DUTIES
Establish and maintain internal financial controls and best practices Manage all aspects of the general ledger Prepare consolidated monthly financial statements Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings (bank recs, accruals, asset schedules, liability reconciliations, allocations, etc.) Serve as a liaison to external auditors/CPA firm and prepare requested documentation as needed Prepare, audit, and file Sales Tax Returns in all necessary jurisdictions Maintain Insurances GL, WC, Auto (renewals, schedules, accruals) Maintain company Licenses (business, construction, sales tax; applications/renewals, file annual business reports) Analyze and report accurate Work in Process schedule (Construction WIP knowledge required); Job costing research, reporting, and support as needed Manage accounts payable and receivable AP Invoicing and Check Runs Prepare AR construction draws (AIA Pay apps), provide admin support to PM Team as needed Collect, review, and approve subcontractor prequal packages, compliance docs, and pay apps Track and maintain current Sub Certificates of Insurance [COIs] Maintain compliance tracking logs and documentation: Ensure all subcontractors are approved and compliant prior to contract execution, site access, and payment Must have demonstrated experience with construction lien waivers, including conditional and unconditional waivers for progress and final payments Responsible for all payroll functions: Process and submit weekly payroll Track employee time, PTO, payroll deductions Manage onboarding and offboarding (new hire paperwork, benefit enrollments, state reporting) Maintain personnel files and ensure HR compliance with state and federal requirements Serve as primary HR contact for employees regarding payroll and benefits questions
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION BS
in Accounting, or finance, or relevant field, or equivalent field experience Adequate knowledge of Sage 100, Procore, and other relevant bookkeeping software Minimum of 5 years' experience as a heavy bookkeeper/assistant controller with 2+ years in the construction field
