The Accounting Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting support and supervision of accounting/administration staff. This position ensures accounting work is accurate, timely and appropriately assigned across the department. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, forecasts and operating budgets. Manage month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Oversee A/R, A/P, bank and credit card reconciliations, intercompany activity and other daily accounting functions. Perform Payroll for both companies on a semi-monthly basis, input into accounting systems. Support inventory accounting, adjustments and financial analysis; work with Operations and other departments to resolve accounting issues. Coordinate routine tax and compliance reporting and work with the company's CPA on higher-level or complex matters. Supervise accounting staff, assign and rebalance workload, establish accountability, and cross-train employees to ensure appropriate coverage. Review financial results, budget-to-actual performance and business information to identify issues, cost-saving opportunities and areas requiring management attention. Maintain and improve accounting procedures, internal controls and department processes. Prepare cash reporting, cash flow reports and supporting documentation in accordance with established management and owner approval requirements. Assist management with financial analysis and other accounting projects as needed. Liaison on vendor relationships including but not limited to outside IT services, vending machines, carpets. Basic Qualifications Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience; manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred. Prior experience supervising or leading accounting staff. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, month-end close and reconciliations. Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively across departments. Strong organizational skills, sound judgment and the ability to work with limited supervision. Manufacturing arena preferred. Continuous-improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement practical process improvements. Accounting software/ERP experience; strong Excel skills.
Education:
BA or BS in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
