We are looking for an experienced, business-minded Accounting Manager who is passionate about financial leadership and continuous improvement. This is not a traditional accounting position—we are seeking someone who can partner with ownership, provide sound financial insight, improve operational efficiency, and help drive the company's long-term profitability. Position Summary The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting operations for both our U.S. and China teams while serving as a strategic business partner to ownership. This role requires someone who not only ensures accurate financial reporting but also identifies opportunities to improve profitability, strengthen internal controls, reduce operating costs, and support business growth through data-driven decision-making. In addition to leading the accounting function, this position will oversee payroll administration and support the company's day-to-day human resources operations, including payroll processing, employee records management, benefits administration, onboarding, and HR compliance. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who enjoys solving business challenges, improving processes, and making recommendations that positively impact the company's financial performance. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Management Lead and oversee the daily accounting operations for the U.S. and China accounting teams. Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports. Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, and fixed assets. Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external CPA firms and tax advisors. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Payroll & Human Resources Administration Oversee and process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Maintain employee payroll records, timekeeping, benefits administration, and related documentation. Coordinate new hire onboarding, employee records management, and offboarding procedures. Administer HR policies and ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies. Serve as the primary HR contact for employees regarding payroll, benefits, leave requests, and general HR-related inquiries. Assist management with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, employee performance documentation, and other human resources initiatives as needed. Strategic Financial Leadership Serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and senior management by providing strategic financial insights and recommendations. Analyze financial performance, identify profit improvement opportunities, and recommend strategies to increase profitability and operational efficiency. Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs, optimize cash flow, and improve overall business performance. Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial models to support business planning. Monitor key financial and operational KPIs, providing actionable analysis to support executive decision-making. Evaluate investments, pricing strategies, purchasing decisions, inventory performance, and business expansion opportunities from a financial perspective. Partner with ownership to develop long-term financial strategies that support sustainable growth and maximize shareholder value. Process Improvement & Internal Controls Review existing accounting workflows and internal controls, identifying areas for improvement. Lead initiatives to automate and streamline accounting and reporting processes. Participate in ERP implementation, system optimization, and financial reporting enhancements. Ensure strong internal controls and effective risk management practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Warehouse, Customer Service, and Executive Management to support business objectives. Assist management with special projects and strategic initiatives. Foster collaboration between the U.S. and China teams to ensure consistent financial reporting and operational efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred but not required. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting and financial management experience. Previous experience managing an accounting team. Experience with payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and human resources management is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, inventory accounting, and internal controls. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system is highly preferred. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Fluency in English is required.
