Job Description

Robert Half is recruiting for a strong Nonprofit Accounting Consultant to assist our non profit client build the accounting framework, clean up historical records, and prepare financials for upcoming Form 990 filings. This role will be located onsite in Redlands, CA.Key Responsibilities
  • Create a nonprofit-specific accounting framework and procedures manual, including policies, workflows, and internal controls.
  • Reconcile tax vs. book differences
  • for the 2022 and 2023 Form 990s and prepare supporting schedules.
  • Clean up and restructure the Chart of Accounts
  • Standardize categories/GL accounts
  • Align Grants → Customers (Funders/Projects)
  • Align
  • Functional Expenses/Programs → Classes
  • Correct mis posted 2025 transactions
  • and complete all remaining 2025 entries
  • Prepare 2024 financial statements for Form 990 tax preparation.
  • Prepare 2025 financial statements for timely tax filing and provide documentation for external tax preparers.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in nonprofit GAAP, grant tracking, and Form 990 support.
  • Expertise in system cleanup and restructuring.
  • Experience writing accounting manuals and improving controls.
  • Detail-oriented, able to clean up historical data and work independently.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks online preferred
