Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for our Construction client in the Castro Valley area to lead the accounting department. This role is instrumental in providing strategic financial leadership, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and supporting project teams at a dynamic and growing general contractor in the East Bay. •This role is 5 days/week onsite, so you must live in the Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and management of the accounting department, including supervision of 5 accounting staff. Manage cash flow tracking, forecasting, and conduct monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit & loss (P&L), balance sheet, and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules. Oversee the review and maintenance of project budgets, including budget modifications. Manage subcontractor accounts payable, including review and collection of compliance documentation (lien management, certificates of insurance, contracts, and certified payroll). Oversee union tracking (Carpenters, Laborers, Operating Engineers) and ensure accuracy and timeliness of benefit payments. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers and executive leadership to drive business goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry with at least 2 years of experience at a general contractor. Prior management experience, including supervision and development of direct reports. Proficiency with Vista (Viewpoint) or similar construction accounting software required.
