Job Description

We're the fundraising arm of Santa Barbara City College, channeling donor generosity into scholarships, programs, and opportunities that open doors for students across our community. Our small-but-mighty team is passionate, collaborative, and genuinely proud of what we do. We're looking for an Accounting Manager who brings sharp financial skills and heart for mission-driven work to our Finance team. What You'll Do This role is the financial backbone of our organization. You'll keep things running accurately, efficiently, and on time while working closely with our CFO and CEO. Here's where you'll spend your time:
Accounts Payable & Financial Processing:
Process invoices, contracts, and organizational obligations; prepare invoices to the College and donors; reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly; prepare routine financial reports.
General Ledger & Journal Entries:
Prepare journal entries for prepaid expenses, depreciation, gift fees, and payroll.
Audit & Board Support:
Help prepare audit schedules, board and committee meeting packets, and take minutes for Audit, Finance, and Investment Committee meetings.
Tax & Compliance:
Prepare 1099s and assist with our annual 990 filing.
Administrative & Records Management:
Maintain our Finance shared drive, manage offsite records, and pitch in on organizational events. Who You Are You're someone who finds satisfaction in clean books, accurate reports, and systems that actually work. You handle confidential information with discretion, bring a calm and professional demeanor to the job, and genuinely care about the organization you work for. You love being part of a team.
What You BringRequired:
Advanced proficiency with Financial Edge (or comparable fund accounting software) and Microsoft Excel Intermediate proficiency with Google Suite Strong written and verbal communication skills Sharp attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines without missing a beat A self-starter mindset with the ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member Preferred (bonus points!): Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Experience in a nonprofit or higher education environment Familiarity with Blackbaud or similar donor database systems Why Join Us?
