This is a strong opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys balancing hands-on accounting work with leadership responsibilities while helping strengthen financial accuracy, reporting, and process improvement initiatives across the business. This role sits at the center of accounting operations and works closely with leadership, Accounts Payable, Cash Applications, General Ledger Accounting, and external audit partners. The right person will be someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, mentoring team members, and bringing structure and organization to complex accounting workflows. This is not a narrow transactional accounting role. The position offers broad exposure across month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, process improvement, expense management, and operational finance support within a large, multi-location business environment. What You'll Be Doing Supervise the Accounts Payable and Cash Applications staff and act as a point of escalation for the Accounts Payable Manager Investigate and address aged balances as well as received-but-not-invoiced items Monitor the invoice-matching SaaS platform "Conexiom" to identify exceptions and submit necessary change requests Assess the vendor roster within the platform and implement additional vendors as needed Review and approve journal entries prepared by General Ledger Accountants and the Sales Tax Accountant before they are posted Prepare assigned journal entries, such as those related to customer rebates Review and provide first-level approval for balance sheet reconciliations and internal reporting Administer the overall close process to ensure its smooth execution Coordinate with the financial audit firm to address and fulfill their requests Serve as primary back-up to Daily Bill Trust reconciliation and Credit Card Authorizations Verify cash receipts from prior day are posted in ERP by the Cash Applications staff and reconciled to the bank and will review and identify credit card transaction discrepancies Distribute monthly internal reporting, such as risk reports Conduct a review of T&E (Travel and Expense) spend. Analyze and prepare T&E spend reports versus the budget Support re-forecasting and budgeting for T&E Provide finance approval in the TravelBank system Assist in the transition of T&E provider from Travel Bank to Concur What Makes Someone Successful in This Role This role is ideal for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with operational awareness and leadership capability.
Strong candidates typically bring:
Corporate General Ledger accounting experience within a mid-sized or large company environment Experience supervising or mentoring AP, billing, or accounting staff Strong reconciliation experience involving banks, customer deposits, credit card activity, and balance sheet accounts Advanced Excel capability including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested formulas, and data analysis Comfort working across multiple priorities and departments in a structured business environment The ability to communicate accounting concepts clearly to both finance and non-finance teams A process-improvement mindset with examples of operational efficiencies they've helped implement Experience We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of accounting or finance experience 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience Strong background in General Ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting Experience working with ERP/accounting systems and financial tools Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS principles Experience in distribution, manufacturing, retail, or similarly operational business environments preferred Publicly traded company experience is a plus Additional credentials such as CPA, MBA, or FP&A experience are welcome but not required.
