An Accounting Manager manages the accounting department of a company or organization. Directs the accounting staff that prepare financial statements and business activity and forecasting reports and tax filings. Monitors accounting data. Implements and manages accounting policies and procedures. Advises management with regard to finance decisions.
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in Sonoma County for a contract position expected to last 1-2 months. This role will provide day-to-day leadership to the accounting team while ensuring accurate close activities, reliable reporting, and strong financial oversight. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in general ledger accounting, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Lead daily accounting operations and provide direction, coaching, and support to senior and staff accountants. Manage month-end and period-end close activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal standards. Oversee general ledger activity, including journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliation review. Prepare and review financial statements and other recurring reports for management use. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and implement practical process improvements. Promote knowledge sharing across the team by communicating financial concepts clearly and encouraging collaboration. Support work within
SAP S/4HANA
when applicable; candidates with Oracle or NetSuite experience may also contribute effectively. Partner with team members on-site three days per week to maintain alignment, visibility, and operational continuity. 5+ years of accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility. Strong background in month-end close, general ledger management, and account reconciliations. Experience preparing financial statements and delivering accurate financial reporting. Proficiency with journal entries, account analysis, and period-end accounting processes. Hands-on experience with
