Location:
West Haven, onsite Position Overview Our client is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to take ownership of a broad range of accounting, payroll and administrative responsibilities. This position will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring key accounting processes are completed timely and accurately, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, task-driven, dependable and comfortable taking initiative in a hands-on environment. Key Responsibilities Own monthly general ledger activity, including preparation and review of journal entries. Perform bank reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved. Reconcile and tie out balance sheet accounts and maintain comprehensive supporting schedules. Manage accounting and reconciliation of company credit cards, cash deposits and petty cash. Prepare and submit multi-state sales tax returns and payments. Oversee and assist with accounts payable activities as needed. Maintain accurate fixed asset records and supporting documentation. Manage weekly payroll processes, including timecard review, commissions, PTO, mileage, employee expenses and related approvals. Reconcile payroll activity and prepare associated journal entries. Manage weekly 401(k) contributions, employee loans and QNEC contributions. Maintain year-end 401(k) records and complete the annual 401(k) census. Maintain employee records and support administration of health, dental, vision, life, short-term disability and long-term disability benefits. Coordinate workers' compensation reporting when necessary. Handle accounting responsibilities for affiliated entities. Maintain appropriate documentation and support for accounting transactions and reconciliations. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, organization and efficiency. Partner with leadership on special projects and additional accounting or operational responsibilities as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Manufacturing experience is preferred Strong hands-on accounting experience with general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations and month-end processes. Experience with payroll administration and payroll accounting. Knowledge of accounts payable, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations. Experience with sales tax and/or multi-state accounting is preferred. Strong Excel skills and experience working within accounting systems. Ability to independently manage multiple accounting processes and recurring deadlines. Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership. Self-motivated, task-driven and comfortable operating in a hands-on environment. #
