Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced finance leader to oversee accounting close operations and reporting support for multiple business units in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This position plays a central role in coordinating day-to-day execution between offshore accounting resources, finance leadership, and audit partners while maintaining high standards for accuracy and timeliness. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to improve processes in a deadline-driven healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the work of an offshore accounting team and provide guidance across close and reporting activities for several business units.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles to ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Evaluate journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed-asset accounting, supporting schedules, and management reporting materials before final submission.
- Analyze financial results, identify unexpected variances or unresolved items, and drive corrective action with appropriate stakeholders.
- Act as the primary domestic contact for offshore staff, business-unit finance leaders, auditors, and shared-services management.
- Track service performance, enforce close timetables, and uphold quality expectations across accounting outputs.
- Support audit requests and assist with compliance efforts related to internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Promote consistency in accounting practices by reinforcing policies, strengthening controls, and recommending workflow improvements.
- Contribute to broader accounting optimization initiatives designed to increase efficiency and standardization across the close process. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and period-end close management.
- Demonstrated background reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and recurring financial reporting packages.
- Prior leadership experience managing accounting staff or supervising work completed by offshore or shared-services teams is preferred.
- Solid knowledge of close procedures, internal-control frameworks, audit coordination, and
U.S. GAAP.
- Certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred but not mandatory.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
