Accounting Manager
CLASSIFICATION
Exempt SUMMARY:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and performing advanced accounting functions, financial reporting, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, grant accounting support, and month-end and year-end closing activities for the organization. This position ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records and supports compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), HRSA requirements, federal grant regulations, and organizational financial policies. The Accounting Manager serves as a technical accounting resource and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), finance staff, auditors, program leadership, and external agencies to support the organization's financial operations and sustainability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience required. Healthcare, nonprofit, FQHC, or grant-funded organization experience strongly preferred. Experience with financial statement preparation, reconciliations, grants accounting, and audit support required. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Understanding of nonprofit and healthcare accounting practices. Knowledge of grant accounting, restricted funds, and federal compliance requirements preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, financial institution, managed care companies, specialty program administrators.
