Accounting Manager -
Healthcare Revenue Salary:
Up to $100,000 Position Summary The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing healthcare revenue accounting, reporting, and analysis, with a strong focus on third-party reimbursement from commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid payers. This role applies GAAP principles to ensure accurate financial reporting and supports month-end close, audits, financial analysis, and special projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle accounting, including gross revenue, contractual adjustments, denials, and bad debt reserves. Essential Responsibilities Manage and analyze all aspects of healthcare revenue accounting, including gross revenue, contractual discounts, denials, and bad debt reserves. Participate in the month-end close process by preparing and analyzing financial statements and supporting schedules. Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and established accounting policies. Perform detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations and provide explanations for variances. Monitor internal controls and communicate discrepancies or irregularities to management. Maintain fixed asset schedules and record monthly depreciation. Oversee payroll-related accounting activities. Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests. Analyze budget-to-actual variances and identify trends impacting financial performance. Build effective relationships with operational teams and cross-functional departments. Lead and complete special projects while ensuring routine responsibilities are completed timely. Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of integrity. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight to accounting staff. Supervise and mentor team members, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to accounting policies. Previous supervisory experience is required. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA designation is a plus. Required Experience Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong healthcare industry experience required. Experience with healthcare revenue accounting and third-party reimbursement. Knowledge of revenue cycle components including contractual allowances, denials, and bad debt. Previous supervisory or management experience required. Experience with AI tools for Excel analysis (such as Claude for Excel or similar solutions) is preferred. Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Experience with accounting systems and financial software. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Experience with Great Plains and FRx is preferred. Knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis.
