This role is a great opportunity for a strategic cost accounting leader who thrives in a manufacturing environment and wants to build and lead a function that drives business impact. Cost Accounting Manager ???? Manufacturing Operations | Legacy Building Products Join Our Team Gibraltar Building Products is seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to establish and lead our centralized Cost Accounting function supporting 13 manufacturing facilities across North America. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for developing and maintaining standard costing processes, ensuring inventory accuracy, supporting financial reporting, and partnering with operations leaders to drive profitability and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing cost accounting expertise, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to collaborate across Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain teams. What You'll Do As the Cost Accounting Manager, you will: ? Build and lead a centralized Cost Accounting function supporting 13 manufacturing locations. ? Develop, implement, and maintain fully loaded standard costs for manufactured products, including annual cost rollups and periodic updates. ? Own and continuously improve standard costing methodologies, including material, labor, overhead, and freight allocations. ? Analyze manufacturing and inventory variances, providing actionable insights to improve operational performance. ? Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including inventory accounting, reconciliations, reserves, journal entries, and financial reporting. ? Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, and plant leadership to improve inventory accuracy, BOM integrity, and product costing processes. ? Coordinate annual physical inventories and cycle count programs across multiple manufacturing facilities. ? Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with SOX requirements. ? Serve as the primary cost accounting contact for internal and external audits. ? Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cost accounting processes, ERP utilization, inventory controls, and reporting capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant manufacturing cost accounting responsibility 5+ years of supervisory or people leadership experience Experience developing and maintaining standard costing systems in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost accounting principles Experience supporting financial close processes and inventory management programs ERP experience, preferably SAP or a comparable manufacturing system Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills Excellent analytical, communication, and business partnership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA, CMA, and/or MBA Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations Experience with external audits, internal controls, and SOX compliance Strong continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process optimization Why Gibraltar Building Products?
