full-time Accounting Manager - Insurance Oak Brook, IL | Hybrid (3 days onsite) Growing specialty insurance and risk management organization A well-established specialty insurance organization is building out its accounting leadership team and seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee a large insurance accounting function. Reporting into senior finance leadership, this position combines people leadership, technical accounting, month-end close ownership, statutory reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The organization offers a collaborative culture, strong leadership, a stable business model, and a reputation for investing in employee development. This role is ideal for an insurance accounting professional who enjoys leading teams, developing staff, improving processes, and operating as a key contributor within a growing finance organization. Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of supervisors, senior accountants, and staff accountants Own monthly close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes Oversee preparation and review of statutory reporting and regulatory filings Manage balance sheet reconciliations and review unusual transactions and account activity Partner with internal stakeholders on accounting projects and business initiatives Support annual audits and quarterly reviews Strengthen internal controls and accounting processes Drive automation and process improvement efforts to increase efficiency Mentor team members and support their professional development Ensure accurate GAAP reporting and regulatory compliance Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline 3+ years property & casualty insurance / reinsurance experience Experience with both GAAP and statutory accounting Demonstrated ownership of month-end close and financial reporting processes Prior management experience leading accounting teams Strong understanding of account reconciliations, financial statements, and internal controls Advanced Excel skills Excellent communication and leadership abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience with insurance accounting systems and reporting tools Process improvement, automation, or workflow optimization experience Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting requirements Why Consider This Opportunity?
