$85,000 - $105,000 + bonus About the Opportunity Our client, a well-established and growing organization in Chicago, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its accounting leadership team. This role will support the Controller in overseeing the day-to-day accounting function, financial reporting, month-end close, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a stable career progression with increasing levels of accounting responsibility. Candidates coming from a public accounting background who have successfully transitioned into industry or professionals with progressive corporate accounting experience will be highly considered. Responsibilities Assist in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Oversee general ledger accounting and ensure compliance with GAAP Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and management reporting packages Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis Coordinate internal and external audit activities Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Mentor and develop accounting staff Partner with operations and business leaders to support financial decision-making Drive process improvement initiatives and accounting automation efforts Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Public accounting experience and/or corporate accounting leadership experience preferred Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience leading month-end close and managing staff Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience CPA strongly preferred Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills Preferred Background Career progression showing increased responsibility and leadership Experience within manufacturing, distribution, or other operationally focused environments Prior experience reviewing work performed by staff and senior accountants History of tenure and professional growth within organizations Benefits Competitive compensation and bonus opportunity Comprehensive benefits package 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays High visibility to executive leadership Opportunity for future advancement into a Controller position LHH Recruitment Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
