Position Summary The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial health and compliance of Kansas Statewide Homeless Coalition (KSHC) across all programs and funding streams. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with federal, state, and private grant requirements. The Financial Manager works closely with program leadership to support budgeting, financial planning, and strategic decision-making that advances KSHC's mission to prevent and end homelessness across Kansas. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Oversight Assists financial contractors manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance Assist in the preparations of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports Monitor organizational cash flow and financial position across multiple funding sources Maintain and improve financial systems, policies, and internal controls Grant & Program Financial Administration Develop and manage program-specific budgets (e.g., CoC, HMIS, state, local and private grants) Track expenditures and ensure alignment with grant requirements and approved budgets Prepare and submit financial reports and reimbursement requests to funders Collaborate with program managers to monitor spending, provide budget forecasts, and support program compliance Manage, track and distribute direct financial assistance to clients in need. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) Coordinate annual audit and 990 and serve as primary liaison with external auditors and accounting contractors. Prepare audit schedules, documentation, and corrective action plans if needed Maintain documentation for monitoring visits and funder reviews Budgeting & Strategic Planning Lead the development of the organization's annual operating budget, cost allocation and timesheet guide for staff as well as program budget development for future requests for proposals. Support leadership with financial forecasting and scenario planning Provide analysis to inform strategic decisions, program expansion, and sustainability planning. In conjunction with a contracted accounting firm, work with the Executive Director to inform KSHC's Board of Directors of monthly expenditures and annual budget projections. Team Collaboration & Capacity Building Provide financial guidance and training to program staff, managers and board members Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial staff Support a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field Minimum of 5 years of financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting Experience managing federal and/or state grant funding (HUD funding strongly preferred) Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and compliance requirements Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Excel Preferred CPA or equivalent certification Experience with Continuum of Care (CoC), ESG, or other housing/homelessness funding streams Experience working in multi-program or coalition-based organizations with grant funding.

Pay:

$55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
