This position works closely with executive leadership to strengthen financial performance, support long-term business objectives, and maintain a strong control environment. The ideal candidate brings a blend of accounting expertise, operational leadership, and sound business judgment to help drive efficient processes and excellent member service.
Responsibilities:
Lead daily accounting and operational functions, ensuring departments run effectively and support the organization's broader goals. Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including reporting on revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, and capital to support leadership decision-making. Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes to ensure timely and reliable financial results. Partner with executive leadership to develop budgets, financial forecasts, and plans that support sustainable growth. Review the investment portfolio and recommend appropriate actions based on liquidity needs, market conditions, policy limits, and balance sheet objectives. Strengthen internal controls and safeguard organizational assets by monitoring compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulatory expectations. Work across teams such as lending, marketing, product, and sales to align operational execution with strategic priorities. Supervise accounting and operations staff, set performance expectations, and foster a collaborative, accountable work environment. Support audits and financial statement reviews by ensuring documentation, reporting, and processes are complete and accurate. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably within a credit union or banking environment. At least 6 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a closely related function. Strong knowledge of general ledger management, account reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close activities. Experience preparing budgets, financial reports, and supporting financial statement audits. Solid understanding of asset liability management, investment oversight, and risk mitigation principles. Ability to lead multiple teams or functions while managing competing priorities and deadlines. Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organization.
