Job Description
Description We are looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting operations for a multi-office legal environment in New Orleans, Louisiana. This contract to hire opportunity is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can drive accurate financial reporting, maintain strong control over cash activity, and keep month-end processes on schedule. The role focuses on managing accounting workflows and deliverables rather than supervising staff, while partnering closely with firm leadership to support informed financial decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly close process by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain precise records across multiple bank accounts and office locations.
- Monitor daily cash activity, track fund movements, and help safeguard the organization's financial position.
- Oversee accounts payable processing to ensure invoices are coded correctly and payments are completed on time.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for leadership review and external reporting needs.
- Work closely with firm stakeholders to deliver recurring financial reports and respond to accounting-related inquiries.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by researching discrepancies and resolving account variances promptly.
- Support audit and review activities by organizing documentation and providing clear financial backup when requested. Requirements
- Proven experience managing month-end close activities in a detail-oriented accounting environment.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audit or review processes.
- Demonstrated ability to handle bank reconciliations and oversee cash management with attention to detail.
- Background in accounts payable and a solid understanding of standard accounting controls.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities across several business locations while maintaining accuracy.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial data and communicating results clearly to internal stakeholders.
