Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in GAAP, financial statement preparation, regulatory reporting, and accounting systems. This role involves managing complex accounting functions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing strategic financial insights. The Accounting Manager will also mentor junior staff, uphold confidentiality, and ensure accurate financial reporting across various sectors including public, non-profit, and governmental accounting. Responsibilities Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and relevant accounting standards. Reconcile the general ledger, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. Oversee the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processess to support daily financial operations. Conduct month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and audit preparations. Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard confidential information. Utilize financial software and other accounting systems to streamline workflows. Conduct financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives. Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Stay updated on evolving governmental accounting standards, including those related to public and non-profit accounting. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Extensive experience in financial accounting, including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and financial report writing. Proven expertise in managing complex accounting functions across non-profit and governmental environments. Strong knowledge of GAAP, Louisiana Legislative Auditrors best practices. Proficiency with accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel spreadsheets) for data analysis and report generation. Experience with technical accounting issues such as debt & credits management and double entry bookkeeping. Ability to interpret financial reports, perform cash flow analysis, bank reconciliations, and budget management effectively. Excellent leadership skills with a track record of mentoring teams. High level of integrity in handling confidential information; strong attention to detail; excellent organizational skills.
