Role:

Lead the design, analysis, and continuous improvement of VulcanForms? cost accounting processes. This role provides the technical expertise needed to establish best-in-class cost analysis, reporting, and controls while improving financial insight, operational efficiency, and decision support. The Cost Accounting Lead will oversee cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance reporting to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, execute, and continuously improve cost analysis frameworks covering direct and indirect costs
• Identify inefficiencies, cost-saving opportunities, and opportunities to improve margins
• Develop and enhance cost reporting and variance analysis to ensure accurate, timely, and decision-useful information
• Evaluate existing cost structures, data flows, and reporting processes; identify gaps and implement improved methodologies and controls
• Prepare cost reports, financial statements, and analyses supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
• Lead the preparation of cost forecasts and annual operating budgets
• Evaluate the financial feasibility of new projects, initiatives, and product lines
• Create and maintain annual standard cost updates
• Review work order settlements and cross-company transactions
• Monitor inventory accuracy and cost of goods manufactured
• Ensure the integrity of inventory valuation and underlying cost drivers
• Partner with production, operations, supply chain, and finance teams to strengthen cost controls and improve purchasing practices
• Support strategic business initiatives through actionable cost analysis
• Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, internal accounting policies, and applicable industry standards
• Maintain strong audit readiness and thorough process documentation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Demonstrated ownership of cost accounting processes
• Proven experience designing, implementing, or substantially improving cost accounting and reporting processes
• Strong proficiency in variance analysis, standard costing, inventory accounting, and cycle count reporting
• Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex cost drivers and translate them into actionable insights
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP and accounting systems, such as Epicor
• In-depth understanding of U.S. GAAP and cost accounting principles
• Ability to work independently, define effective analytical approaches, and drive projects through execution and documentation
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing ambiguity, and proactively identifying improvement opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation
• Cost accounting experience in an advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, aerospace, defense, or similarly complex production environment

Compensation:

• Annual base salary: \$88,000 to \$120,000
