full-time Our client, a growing real estate investment and management company is seeking an experienced, hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting function and partner closely with senior finance leadership on cash management, financial reporting, and month-end close. This is a key role within the organization, with responsibility for accounting across multiple properties and entities. The Accounting Manager will also have the opportunity to strengthen accounting policies and procedures, improve internal controls, and identify opportunities to create greater efficiency as the company continues to grow. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable taking ownership in a hands-on environment with multiple entities, properties, and competing priorities. Key Responsibilities Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable across multiple entities and properties, ensuring accurate invoice processing, tenant charges, collections, and related activity. Supervise and mentor the Staff Accountant, review work product, and serve as an escalation point for day-to-day accounting questions. Manage cash across entities, maintain banking relationships, ensure appropriate funding for operating and capital needs, and reconcile bank and corporate credit card accounts. Prepare and execute weekly check runs, including review of supporting documentation and approvals. Prepare monthly property and entity-level financial reporting, including financial statements, variance analysis, and supporting schedules for ownership and senior leadership. Coordinate mortgage payments and maintain loan schedules, escrow requirements, and lender reporting deadlines. Manage real estate tax payments and deadlines across multiple jurisdictions. Maintain corporate records and compliance items, including LLC filings, vendor W-9s, certificates of insurance, and other reporting requirements. Coordinate annual insurance audits and other third-party audits. Manage management fee billings, overhead reimbursements, and payroll-related reconciliations. Assist with property-level budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Develop and document accounting policies and procedures to improve consistency, strengthen internal controls, and support scalability. Identify and implement accounting process improvements, including opportunities to streamline workflows and improve reporting. Serve as a key user and internal resource for the company's property accounting software, including reporting, workflow improvements, templates, and system adoption. Support additional accounting, finance, and ad hoc projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; real estate or property management experience strongly preferred. Experience managing accounting across multiple entities, properties, or locations. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, cash management, and financial reporting. Hands-on experience with AppFolio or similar property management accounting software strongly preferred. Experience identifying and implementing accounting process improvements. Experience developing or documenting accounting policies and procedures. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work independently while partnering closely with senior leadership. Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or reviewing the work of other accounting professionals preferred.
