Accounting & Bookkeeping Manager J & J Asset Management Corporation Accounting & Bookkeeping Manager Lowell, MA Apply Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of a diverse real estate and healthcare portfolio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, ensuring accuracy across multiple legal entities, and providing strategic financial support to leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Statement Preparation:
    Manage the monthly and year-end closing process for multiple entities. Produce accurate P&L statements and Balance Sheets on both cash and accrual bases.
  • Accounts Payable & Cash Flow:
    Prioritize and process vendor payments, monitor bank balances for multiple operating accounts, and manage a high volume of invoices to avoid service disconnections or late fees.
  • Advanced Reconciliations:
    Reconcile clinical billing systems with the general ledger. Resolve material irregularities, such as negative accounts receivable or uncategorized expenses.
  • Intercompany Accounting:
    Track and document intercompany loans, related-party transactions, and partner distributions across a complex corporate structure.
  • CAM & Lease Administration:
    Perform annual CAM reconciliations and audits for commercial tenants. Coordinate with property management to record outstanding debts and adjustments.
  • Tax & Audit Compliance:
    Prepare year-end workpapers and trial balances for external tax preparers. Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation and amortization entries.
  • Process Improvement:
    Implement and manage accounting workflows within tools like QuickBooks and property management software (e.g., DoorLoop).
  • Property Management Software Administration:
    Serve as a primary administrator for DoorLoop, ensuring all properties, units, and leases are accurately represented and updated.
Portal Engagement:
Facilitate tenant onboarding to the Resident Portal to streamline electronic rent collection (ACH and card payments) and communication. ?
Billing & Fee Management:
Monitor automated rent postings and manually adjust for credits, additional rent items, or fee removals as needed.
  • Data Synchronization:
    Maintain high data integrity by ensuring that financial information in DoorLoop aligns with the general ledger in QuickBooks.
  • DoorLoop Property Management:
  • System Integration & Alignment:
    Collaborates on connecting bank accounts via Plaid through DoorLoop for reconciliation.
  • Tenant Portal Management:
    Coordinates tenant sign-ups for the DoorLoop Resident Portal app, which is used for all property-related accounts, billing, and rent payments.
Payment & Late Fee Administration:
Manages the posting and removal of rent charges and late fees within the DoorLoop system. o
Manual Data Entry:
Periodically enters breakdown of fee charges and expense details manually into DoorLoop to maintain consistency between property management and core accounting records.
  • CAM Calculation Setup:
    Implements Common Area Maintenance (CAM) calculation templates within DoorLoop, as part of transitioning from previous software like Avail.
Screening Coordination:
Utilizes DoorLoop to run background and credit checks on potential tenants.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in real estate or healthcare.
  • Expertise in QuickBooks Desktop/Online and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with clinical billing systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Athena) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, intercompany transactions, and tax reconciliation (M-1 adjustments).
